Step by Step (ooh baby!)

Ow, I kinda hurt, but it's a good hurt. Spring is hurling by, and summer seems to be upon us if the weather the past two weekends is any indicator. So, what to do with your summer days, when up here in Saskatchewan we seem to get somewhere around 16 hours of daylight each day?

Well, I've heard you take things one step at a time, but I read an article on the BBC that says we should all really be taking 10,000 steps at a time, or at least in a day. And so, today I set out with Ben to find a pedometer and make it happen.

My end result after walking from the Mendel to the Victoria bridge, across the bridge, back to the University bridge, then back AGAIN to the Broadway Bridge, and then finally back to the car...

7541 steps.

So while it's not 10,000, it's a start. Keep in mind, this is 10,000 steps in yourwhole day, from the second you pull on your pants in the morning, to the moment you take them off (at night, before bed. If you take them off for any reason before that, I don't wanna know, but you can keep counting steps.)

So how do I feel after 7500 steps? Well, based on my weight - about 600 calories lighter :) I feel sore, tired and relaxed. I feel great.

We're gonna do it again tomorrow. I won't speculate for anything after that, because you really just gotta take things 1 day at a time, and make every single day count.

I figure that with 10,000 steps a day, and dropping my diet to 1500 nicely balanced calories each day, I should be in pretty good shape sometime around 2008 :)

Keep it up Paulie!! Now,start adding some fibre in the diet and you will be in great shape by 2007!! Flax seed and hemp seed - the new plastic surgery without the knive and complications!
