McDonalds Two Cheeseburger Meal Revolution!

Posted by Sarah at 4:23 PM on July 28, 2006.

Ok, the disappearing-food-ranting lady from Saskatoon is back with a vengeance. Blame it on a quick Irish temper, but whenever a beloved favorite disappears, I am here to rant about it. My sole purpose in life is strictly focused on bringing said food item back. If I don’t do it, who will? I demand foodstuff justice!

First I was able to bring back China Lily Soya Sauce through the power of rant, now it is my sole mission to bring back the McDonalds Two Cheeseburger Meal in Canada. What is this she’s complaining about now you ask? McDonald’s still has cheeseburgers right? While they may* still have cheeseburgers left, yes, they no longer offer the two cheeseburger meal. I am confused and perplexed as to why they took this item off the value meal menu. Quite perplexed actually. In an informal survey of a sample of my friends & family (N = roughly 24), the value meal formerly known as “Two Cheeseburger Meal” was the most often purchase value meal on the menu. Now why in cheesy-goodness would they take the most (or one of the most) popular menu items away? If they were losing money, why not raise the price? I’d gladly pay an extra 50 – 75 cents for my beloved cheeseburger duo. If they claim it wasn’t popular, well that is just an outright McLie. I don’t even know what the replaced it with but I am sure it is suck-tastic like the Big Extra or something equally as foul.

To further express my frustration, I need to describe what I had to endure today to simply get a meal with 2 cheeseburgers. Step 1: Look on menu, *no cheeseburger listed, only crappy value “picks” selections and value meals to choose from (note to those who haven’t been to McDonalds anymore.. you can’t even see fries or burgers listed on the menu anymore.. all deals and pictures… perhaps they assume the McD’s target market cannot read? I guess we’ll never know). Step 2: Decide the best thing to do is order the bacon cheeseburger meal deal sans bacon with an extra cheeseburger sans bacon on the side. Sigh. Twenty minutes later and all that work for my favorite meal is just not McRight. What would Ronald say if he were still alive? I bet it would involve mucho swears and wouldn’t be very clown like at all.

To add to my growing frustration… I tried to hint to the manager who was too busy taming a crazy lunch lineup to deal with me, so I went on their website to complain only to find they do not even have an email contact form only long distance numbers to call around Canada. Only adding to the conclusion that they believe their customers are either illiterate and/or computerly-challenged.

Do your part today… make your voice heard and contact McDonalds however you can or at the very least, blog your comment here.

Frequent Flyer

Posted by Sarah at 12:16 PM on July 26, 2006.

If I could go anywhere in North America for free, where would I go? Thanks to me reaching my goal of 25,000 Aeroplan miles this month (on the dot which is quite freaky actually), that question has become a reality. So many choices… Perhaps, go back to NYC for the amazing atmosphere and another taste of the crazy-fast-did I mention crazy life? Or maybe good ol’ Disney World for some fun rides and overpriced merchandise. How about L.A? I didn’t get a chance to go there when I was in California… perhaps I should stay there, quit my job and try my hand at acting (or as Paulie says.. “waitressing”). Alas, could always go back to New Orleans party in the French Quarter and see it rebuild firsthand! (Go NOLA!) OOoh, no, I could go to PA (that’s Pennsylvania NOT Prince Albert, SK) to visit my pal, Al. That’s if he promises to not stand on the porch with his shotgun when I arrive. Wait I forgot.. what about Canada East? Quebec, Halifax, Ottawa? All amazing places I have never been except, perhaps, if their respective airports count. Or shall I save it for the honeymoon methinks… I am but a kid in a candy travel shop.CartoonySarahSmall.JPG

Good Things

Posted by Sarah at 5:01 PM on July 18, 2006.

Okay, slacker number 2 here writing her long awaited blog entry. I felt like putting in a feel good kinda blog for all those (including myself) who may need a pick-me-up from time to time. And, by pick-me-up I don’t mean alcoholic beverage.

Above all, I truly believe and always have believed that good things happen to good people. This is my motto and it permeates every aspect of my life. I guess, in a way, it’s a very karmic thing to say. But I am a big believer of karma myself, so I guess it really makes sense for me (inherent religious beliefs aside).

Sometimes, it’s very difficult to believe my motto, especially during those times when it appears that the motto itself is working against you (aka when good or even great things happen to not-so-good people). Sometimes I question the motto and even yell at it in disgust. But then it takes someone to point out to you the good things happening right in front of you that you are so obviously taking for granted. Also, the fact you might risk losing these good things if you always focus on the negative. And, while it appears that good things are happening to the wrong people and bad things are happening to you - that is in fact false. Enter the second most important motto, "everything happens for a reason" typically always helps to explain the former. So I guess the moral of this blog is to be a good person, wait for what the universe brings, stay positive above everything else and know that those undeserving individuals will soon meet their own. I hope I haven’t been too confusing (and sorry Paulie, muddleness is all you get today).
