McDonalds Two Cheeseburger Meal Revolution!Posted by Sarah at
4:23 PM on July 28, 2006.
Ok, the disappearing-food-ranting lady from Saskatoon is back with a vengeance. Blame it on a quick Irish temper, but whenever a beloved favorite disappears, I am here to rant about it. My sole purpose in life is strictly focused on bringing said food item back. If I don’t do it, who will? I demand foodstuff justice! First I was able to bring back China Lily Soya Sauce through the power of rant, now it is my sole mission to bring back the McDonalds Two Cheeseburger Meal in Canada. What is this she’s complaining about now you ask? McDonald’s still has cheeseburgers right? While they may* still have cheeseburgers left, yes, they no longer offer the two cheeseburger meal. I am confused and perplexed as to why they took this item off the value meal menu. Quite perplexed actually. In an informal survey of a sample of my friends & family (N = roughly 24), the value meal formerly known as “Two Cheeseburger Meal” was the most often purchase value meal on the menu. Now why in cheesy-goodness would they take the most (or one of the most) popular menu items away? If they were losing money, why not raise the price? I’d gladly pay an extra 50 – 75 cents for my beloved cheeseburger duo. If they claim it wasn’t popular, well that is just an outright McLie. I don’t even know what the replaced it with but I am sure it is suck-tastic like the Big Extra or something equally as foul. To further express my frustration, I need to describe what I had to endure today to simply get a meal with 2 cheeseburgers. Step 1: Look on menu, *no cheeseburger listed, only crappy value “picks” selections and value meals to choose from (note to those who haven’t been to McDonalds anymore.. you can’t even see fries or burgers listed on the menu anymore.. all deals and pictures… perhaps they assume the McD’s target market cannot read? I guess we’ll never know). Step 2: Decide the best thing to do is order the bacon cheeseburger meal deal sans bacon with an extra cheeseburger sans bacon on the side. Sigh. Twenty minutes later and all that work for my favorite meal is just not McRight. What would Ronald say if he were still alive? I bet it would involve mucho swears and wouldn’t be very clown like at all. To add to my growing frustration… I tried to hint to the manager who was too busy taming a crazy lunch lineup to deal with me, so I went on their website to complain only to find they do not even have an email contact form only long distance numbers to call around Canada. Only adding to the conclusion that they believe their customers are either illiterate and/or computerly-challenged. Do your part today… make your voice heard and contact McDonalds however you can or at the very least, blog your comment here. I am not lovin’ it. TrackBackTrackBack URL for this entry: |

They don't have it on the menu.. but, I went through the drivethrough at 51st once, and was very confused.. So.. I just said "uuuhhh.. I'll get the two cheeseburger combo please?" and she said "sure".. AND IT WAS MINE.
They might still be making it for people who ask. Thats the only thing I ever get from McD's.
Same with Boston Pizza.. they dont have the perogy stromboli on the menu, but they still make it for you if you ask.
Im one of those people that finds something she likes at a restaurant, and sticks to it.

We, the slackers of fatpaulie.com, always appreciate the advice of our readers. Advice, such as Tara's (thank you Tara).
So today I decided to test out this juicy tidbit of info. I went to 51st St McDs.. "um can i get a 2 cheeseburger meal still" mclady "yess..." me "yay! (and SO excited.. driving to pickup at window)... alas, I open the bag only to discover a double cheeseburger. While I personally have nothing against the doublecheeseburger, I DID NOT ASK FOR A DOUBLECHEESEBURGER. Experiament failed. Oh well, will try again another day with another mclady :)

I was able to get one of these delicious two-cheeseburger-y goodnesses in Lloydminster just yesterday!
It was still displayed on the menu in all its glory (it even had its own PANEL).

I think you should really start going to A/W, they always have awesone deals and you can ask for Whole Wheat buns for your burgers....
PS: This is GOOD advice....

Hi!
I am a manager at a Mcdonalds in Canada. Just thought it would be helpful for you to know, we do have the two cheeseburger meal still - it is not pictured as a meal on the menu, but it is still programmed on our tills as a meal! So don't you worry it is not gone forever.

I went to McDonald's today and ordered a #2 with only ketchup without reading the menu (why read it? I always get the same thing!). Much to my dismay, when I came home I realised I was given a QUARTER POUNDER instead of my beloved cheeseburgers! I was later informed that the 2 cheeseburgers are no longer the #2. I remember this same thing happened at Burger King with the double cheeseburger meal. What's up with that? Anyway, I still order a double cheeseburger meal at BK and will continue to order the 2 cheeseburger meal at McDonald's...and you're right about its popularity...I know A LOT of people who got the #2 2 cheeseburgers meal.

Im so mad!! i have been ordering the same meal for years(10years!). i live in british columbia, canada and i love my 2 cheeseburger meal (supersized with coke and two sides of tartar! ..always!!). anyways about 2 years ago they changed the #5 value meal from cheeseburgers to a big extra ...a big extra!!!!? although i was informed i occasionally forget and still order the "#5" only to get home and discover my misfortune. ...i mean come'on a big extra!??
anyways my 2 cheeseburgers just arrived! gotta love those little sisters, even though she still aint gettin any of my fries! Stay strong people! we will defend our delicious burger to the bitter end!!

Well alot of stores have discontinued the "2 cheeseburger meal because it was not cost effective".
Example: Cheeseburger combo w/Second Cheeseburger COST: 7.00+
Value Pix: Bacon Cheeseburger Combo = $4.50 w/tax, add another Bacon CheeseBurger for $1.46 w/Tax and you payed 5.96 instead of over 7 dollars.!!!!
For No Confusion: I would LIKE to have A 2 Single Cheeseburger Combo with coke for example.
Want Fresh Fries?? No salt Please!!!
Want Fresh Patties?? No salt Please on patty!!!
Want Well Done?? No Salt and Well Done Please. (some will just put a old patty on grill again!)
"Filet" > Fresh > Ask No Salt again!!!
