I won a key in the C95 Vespa contest! Now I have 1 chance in 95 to win my very own Vespa. I wonder which model it will be ... http://www.vespasaskatoon.com/products/vespa/ ... and what colour it might be. I can't wait to pick out a helmet! Woohooooo ... scooter helmet! And, I could buy accessories like a bug screen and a basket for shopping! A shopping basket!! I really really REALLY hope I win! I find out this Thursday at 5pm! YAY! Wish me luck. =) August 27, 2006Chicken Fried SteakPosted by Rachel at 5:23 PM on August 27, 2006.
It's not good people. NOT good. It's not chicken and I wouldn't really classify it as steak. It is some sort of super thin and extremely bashed piece of beef that is battered and fried like chicken. And, it's usually served on a small platter and is, itself, the size of the platter with "white gravy". Or, at least what Texans call white gravy, better known to people who don't regularly eat chicken fried steak as bechamel sauce. I recently had the *pleasure* of sampling this delicacy on a trip to San Antonio. I am glad I tried it. And, I will never try it again. I am pretty sure it is the leading cause of heart disease in Texas. The steak alone is bad enough but add to that the fact that Texans prefer to order it with some fried brocoli and onion rings on the side. This makes for an extremely appetizing plate where everything is battered and fried like chicken. Mmmmm. Mmm. NOT good. When you're in San Antonio, try the Mexican. Now THAT is good. =) August 21, 2006RoadTrip 2006!!Posted by Paulie at 7:22 PM on August 21, 2006.
I'll come back and post a photo or something later, but figured you'd wanna see what Ben and I got up to in 13 days on the road, about 9000km, and a whole lotta boxes of wine. 286 photos to give you a vague idea where the next year of stories and in-jokes are coming from. Time for a PMBM, muthafah.... August 15, 2006Folkfest Scavenger Hunt THIS SATURDAY!!Posted by Rachel at 11:22 PM on August 15, 2006.

Ben and I are in San Francisco, and I'm blogging from the Apple Store. It's cooler than cool to a nerd like me. We drove all the way down the 101 from northern Oregon to Petaluma, where we're staying at the KOA till Sunday, then heading back through the Napa Valley, towards Reno, where I'm hopeful that Ben will win us lots of money so we can afford to get home. If he doesn't, I'll become emaciated from lack of food and sleep as we brave a drive north through Utah, Idaho, and Montana. God help us. August 4, 2006Owner of a Lonely SoulPosted by Sarah at 12:16 PM on August 4, 2006.
Well perhaps it isn’t SO lonely. But as of this very day, let it be known that I am officially the newly appointed owner of Paulie’s soul. First task: DANCE, MONKEY! Future tasks: TBD Recent accounts indicate that Paul feels “empty, yet fulfilled” and witnesses have reported his feet moving of their own accord. Stay tuned. August 3, 2006
