It's not good people. NOT good. It's not chicken and I wouldn't really classify it as steak. It is some sort of super thin and extremely bashed piece of beef that is battered and fried like chicken. And, it's usually served on a small platter and is, itself, the size of the platter with "white gravy". Or, at least what Texans call white gravy, better known to people who don't regularly eat chicken fried steak as bechamel sauce. I recently had the *pleasure* of sampling this delicacy on a trip to San Antonio. I am glad I tried it. And, I will never try it again. I am pretty sure it is the leading cause of heart disease in Texas. The steak alone is bad enough but add to that the fact that Texans prefer to order it with some fried brocoli and onion rings on the side. This makes for an extremely appetizing plate where everything is battered and fried like chicken. Mmmmm. Mmm. NOT good. When you're in San Antonio, try the Mexican.
